Espresso 101 With Roastmaster Chris

The perfect espresso is both an art and a science.

But, it’s not as hard to make as one may think. Join Head Roastmaster Chris in the video below to learn how to make the perfect espresso.

How To Make The Perfect Espresso:
  • Grinder: Capable of grinding a uniform particle size, fine enough to be able to brew espresso properly.
  • Espresso Machine: Capable of consistent and powerful pressure.
  • Start with fresh espresso beans – like Joffrey’s Italian Espresso.
  • Use a grinder made for espresso that can grind the beans very fine.
  • Place the portafilter under the grinder doser and fill level to top of basket.
  • Place the portafilter on a hard surface and “tamp”, applying even pressure to ensure a tight pack.
  • Make sure no grounds are on the outside rim of the portafilter.
  • Lock portafilter into espresso brewer and place a cup beneath.
  • Perfectly brewed espresso should pour like two golden brown streams of foam. When finished, it should have a nice thick “crema” on top.
  • Sit back and enjoy your espresso shot OR use it to create your favorite latte or cappuccino!
