Veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces are the backbone of our country, and it’s easy to forget how important they are to us and how tough their jobs are. They’re the ones who run toward a disaster when everyone else runs away. They risk their lives and their health, and spend time away from their families to protect us. We at Joffrey’s are proud to honor them with a new blend of coffee.
A Coffee Fit for a Soldier
Joffrey’s is proud to be an American coffee company, and we are humbled that our coffee is served in both the U.S. Army and Navy and other branches of the military. But we wanted to do more to recognize our U.S Armed Forces by developing a coffee dedicated to them. Our Roastmasters are honored to present Joffrey’s Valor Blend® coffee. When they set out to make this coffee, they wanted the blend to be big and bold, to represent the bravery of the men and women who serve us. This superior bold coffee uses 100% Specialty Grade Arabica Beans, and it delivers a smooth smoky finish fit for a soldier!
Giving Back – Task Force Dagger Foundation
The best thing about our Valor Blend® is that for each bag that you buy, we will donate $1 to the Task Force Dagger Foundation (TFDF), an organization that provides assistance to wounded, ill, or injured US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) members and their families. They respond to urgent needs, conduct Recreational Adaptive Therapy Events, and provide next-generation health solutions for issues facing our service members. They are a rally point to combat Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS), and environmental exposures. Their cohesive programs enable families to seize the moment and live life. We put our hearts behind TFDF because it’s a credible organization dedicated to serving those who serve our country.
Joffrey’s Veteran Tribute
We would like to pay tribute to a WWII veteran who was laid to rest this year. Edward Davis, father of our Marketing Director, Marilyn, was an Army soldier who landed on Omaha Beach during D-Day at the age of 17. D-Day is what we read about in history books, and see in documentaries, but he actually lived it…and survived. Edward received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star of Valor and numerous other distinctions culminating in the designation of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic.
After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Edward re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and had a distinguished twenty year career which was followed by a career in the teaching field as well as many successful entrepreneurial endeavors. He was the true definition of a hero. Although he was laid to rest this year, the patriotism and valor that he and all soldiers stand for will live on. We proudly salute Captain Edward Davis and all of our soldiers and veterans!
Drink a Coffee and Thank a Veteran
Drinking Valor Blend ® coffee will definitely benefit U.S. Armed Service members and veterans, but if you’re interested in doing more, there are plenty of opportunities. Check out these charities that are dedicated to supporting veterans and get involved or donate. But the simplest thing you can do whenever you meet veterans or members of the U.S. Armed Services is to thank them for their service, and let them know that you respect their sacrifices as much as we do.
